The Lickeys

Very close to Birmingham and Bromsgrove and ideal for evening rides. Can be linked up, on quietish roads, with Clent to make a longer ride.

Getting there: The Lickey Hills are located between Birmingham and Bromsgrove - map. They can easily be reached from the centre of Birmingham by following the Rea Valley Cycle Way through Cannon Hill Park and along the canal down to Rubery. Alternatively, Barnt Green train station is at the south end of the Lickeys.

Riding: The Lickeys are small in area but big in hills. For gentle rides just follow the green sign posts of the waymarked cycle ways - there is a cycling leaflet available from the visitor centre. Philip Routledge also gives an example intermediate ride in his book: "Cycling in & around Birmingham".
The Lickeys can offer some challenging down hill action for those that don't mind their wheels leaving the ground - but be aware that many of the quality trails are not legal!
