Cannock Chase
Cannock Chase: Huge area to the north of Birmingham with a great variety of trails to suit all riding abilities. On the West side of the chase you will find wider tracks, rolling hills and open moorland riding, with odd bits of technical singletrack and a couple of evil descents. On the East side the gradient is considerably steeper, the singletrack more technical and the surface much more gloopy. On the East side you will also find a special events area with purpose built downhill courses. It's impossible to map out the best routes on Cannock Chase as some of the trails just aren't marked on the map. Expect a degree of trial and error on your first few visits in order to get the most out of the area in the long run, otherwise you will be riding on fireroads all day long! A good place to start is the Marquis Drive Visitor Centre (and it's excellent café), or the car park opposite the White House pub.
Chase Trails are currently building a 30 mile MTB loop with plenty of sweet sweet single track on the Chase, for more information see the Trail Building page.
If you want a guided tour then why not join one of the WMMTB Saturday morning rides at the Chase?
