Why cycle?
Perhaps the main reason that we do it is because it is fun. There is nothing better than riding with friends and family through the wonderful British countryside, stopping for a coffee or to admire the sights, sharing a joke with other club members, smelling the flowers, and experiencing the world at a relaxed pace.
But it's also good for your health, both physical and mental. Cycling gets you fit and helps to stay in shape. It can help you unwind after stressful days. And it's cheaper and much less boring than the gym!
Yes, cycling can also save you money. Making short journeys by bike saves on public transport, petrol and parking costs, and in the busy urban rush hour congestion it can often get you there faster than driving.
Cycling with CTC North Birmingham
Within the area covered by the Northern Section (Sutton Coldfield, North Birmingham and surrounding area) there are about 150 active members of all ages, both male and female, and with all kinds of bicycle. We provide a regular programme of local cycle rides, and these take place throughout the year. Nevertheless, we do try and offer much more than this.
We have a club-room at the Richard Cooper Hall in the centre of Shenstone where we meet every Tuesday from 8 p.m. onwards. We have an active social scene open to all members and their families. You can come along to sample one of our rides before joining the CTC, so why not get on your bike and join us for some fun?
